Marching Band Senior Recognition and halftime show

Class of 2018 members of the SPFHS Marching Band & Color Guard were honored in Senior Recognition Day ceremonies at the high school's football stadium on Sept. 23.

Music Boosters member Jami Pawelec photographed the senior band members and their families as they were introduced on the field. Click here to see the full album.

The band performed its show, "Elements: Water, Earth, Fire and Air" at halftime of the home football game. Click here for photos of the performance.

The band then went on to a competition at Piscataway High School (See separate post).

Marching Band in competitions at Edison and Piscataway

The 2017 competition season got under way for the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Marching Band & Guard with a USBands "clinic and preview" show on Sept. 9 at Edison High School. We have an album of photos taken from the sidelines (click here).

The following weekend, the Raiders hosted a USBands competition involving ten other schools, and performed in exhibition to close the show (See previous post).

The next stop on the competition circuit was Sept. 23, under the lights at Piscataway High School. Click here for a set of photos taken from the stands, giving a different view of the show.

The Piscataway competition came at the end of a long day for the band, which also included a half-time performance and Senior Recognition ceremonies at the SPFHS home football game that day (See separate post).

Thanks to Jami Pawelec for the photos!

SPFHS hosts 2017 Marching Band Home Show

With the new marching band season under way, SPFHS held its annual Home Show competition on Saturday, Sept. 16. Bands from Weehawken, Cranford, East Brunswick, Fair Lawn, Chatham, Bridgewater-Raritan, Immaculata, Edison, J.P. Stevens and Westfield competed, and the Raiders band closed the event by performing its show, "Elements: Water, Earth, Fire and Air."

This year's event drew a large crowd and was ably served by a big group of SPF Music Boosters volunteers.

We have an album of photos taken by Dan from high in the stands, including some of the competing bands as well as the "home team."

See the full album here.

Tap Into Scotch Plains-Fanwood has a write-up on the event with some excellent photos.

As always, we would welcome photo submissions from parents and friends of the band to add to our collection. Contact us at spfmb.photos@gmail.com.
